[ Another New York Trip ]: Day 5

We headed out to Brooklyn for some afternoon exploring.

I have been applying to architecture/construction jobs all over the country, and for the most part, the places I’d like most to work in I had never been to, including DC/Baltimore, Denver, Portland, Houston/Dallas. I love that DC was everything I had imagined it would be and better. Wonderful. It’s a good balance of city and town. I loved it there.

Here’s just some pictures I took and ran through Poladroid.

I think, perhaps, I am getting sick. eeek.

I feel glorious.

Highlights of the weekend.

- Going to Costco in Kirkland, WA. (aha! That’s why costco has all that Kirkland stuff. There’s actually a city named Kirkland)
- Buying lots of used cds at Easy Street. Also, getting free cd singles AND the John Mayer, Weezer and Where the Wild Things Are Soundtrack on record for free!
- Eating dessert every day after every meal. Oh what a treat. My cousins are the best!
- Saying, “Hello!!!!” to the Troll
- Playing Rock Band
- Watching a screening of “A Single Man“
- Touring the nooks and crannies of Seattle with this dude.
- Visiting Red Hook and learning and having the best tour guide EVER
- Eating the most delicious tofu dish and the most incredible tempura brie with raspberry soy sauce at Wann.

last but not least…
- working in one of my favorite libraries!

p.s. What would you do if the man who sat across from you smelled like B.O. and there weren’t any other tables left to work on?
answer: I sprayed my workstation with perfume. Score! (I hid the perfume with my computer)

Have you noticed google reader makes it really easy to stalk people’s blogs? Sometimes I feel a little guilty knowing so much about people I’ve never met, but that quickly passes. Anyway, one of the blogs I enjoy reading is Ica Images. She’s a great photographer with a distinct point of view which I envy, as I, myself, am trying to find my “voice”.

Anyways… I won her giveaway! Woot.

[ Another New York Trip ]: the end of Day 4!

By the time it was dinner, we were soaked by the rain and our poor feet were exhausted. I have been craving to go to Joe Shanghai since the first time I ate there, but since I usually visit New York alone and this is not an eat-by-yourself place, I haven’t been back since. The wait for our table was an hour long, so we just hopped across the street to Foot Heaven (and yes that’s the real name) and got some foot massages while we wait. Once we got our table at the restaurant, three orders of Shanghai dumplings warmed our empty tummies. Our day ended with those long awaited shanghai dumplings. It was so super delicious.

[ Another New York Trip ]: Day 4

Alison introduced me to Madewell. Unfortunately, It didn’t sink in when I saw it in Texas, so I was grateful that we went in New York. Alison had told me that Madewell was a sister to J.Crew. Naturally, my love for J.Crew was transfered to its sister, Madewell. The store was interestingly designed with a DJ booth on end of the second floor and a little cottage on the opposite end. The choice of clothes was great, especially the lovely old man sweater with the elbow patches that I love. Alice, Katy, Alison and I all found goodies in their reasonably priced sale section and took it upon ourselves to try on the clothes on the sales floor in front of the mirror.

We each came away with some lovely pieces!
